Overview
Description
We are seeking a Medical Video Illustrator to collaborate on a grant-funded healthcare quality improvement initiative. The project focuses on developing a short, patient-facing educational video demonstrating hand splint removal and finger range-of-motion exercises for a common hand injury (volar plate finger fractures) treated in emergency departments.
The involved applicant will work with our clinical team to translate medically accurate instructions into a clear, accessible, and visually engaging animated video suitable for patients of diverse backgrounds.
Responsibilities
• Develop a visual storyboard based on clinician-provided content
• Create a short (approximately 1–2 minute) instructional illustration video
• Illustrate splint removal and gentle finger range-of-motion exercises
• Apply a clean, non-graphic, patient-friendly visual style
• Able to Incorporate subtitles/captions (English required; translations provided)
• Revise content based on feedback from the clinical team
• Deliver final video optimized for mobile viewing and QR code access
Skills
• Background in animation, illustration, motion graphics, or a related field
• Experience creating instructional or explainer-style visual content
• Strong visual communication and storytelling skills
• Ability to simplify complex information into clear visual steps
• Proficiency with Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, or equivalent software
• Ability to work independently and meet project timelines
