Overview
Salary $250 honorarium per workshop
Posting Date August 16, 2021

Description
My name is Amy Burke and I am a project manager working with Dr. Kathleen Sitter with the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Calgary.

I am reaching out to you about a Youth Digital Storytelling research study for youth with developmental disabilities (ages 18-30) facing potential life transitions in the areas of school, work, or living for which we are currently recruiting peer facilitators across Canada.

Digital storytelling allows young people to make short films, learn video editing, audio and visual skills, and tell a story about a personal experience. No previous technical skills are needed. If you have time to connect, we can certainly schedule a Zoom meeting where we could share with you an example of the powerful stories that have been shared.

Eligible peer facilitators are those who:
• Are between the ages of 18-30
• Self-identify as having a developmental disability (behaviour, cognitive, social or emotional challenge)
• Are enrolled in a full-time or part-time post-secondary Canadian institution

Peer facilitators will have the option of facilitating digital storytelling workshops for other youth with developmental disabilities (after attending a series of training workshops) and will be compensated $250 at the end of each workshop they facilitate.

Workshops are taking place via the Zoom platform. We are planning our next workshops for this month and we have space! Please see the attached facilitator recruitment flyer for further details. If anyone is interested they can contact us at: youthdigitalstories@gmail.com
