Skills
The ideal candidate for the Community Resource Assistant position will have completed one of the following post-secondary programs of study: Museums Studies, Indigenous Studies, Art History, Fine Art, Art Education (with a focus on museum education or community engagement), or Other Humanities/Social Sciences or combination thereof (undergraduate-level) / Applied Museum Studies (college-level). They will come to the position with some previous museum/ gallery experience or project management experience in addition to strong organizational skills, solid computer skills, and research and writing experience. Experience using design software are considered assets. The incumbent will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to set goals and priorities and work independently as well as part of a team. In addition the candidate must have excellent English verbal and written communication skills and experience collaborating with diverse community or stakeholder groups. Experience with horticulture or plant propagation is considered an asset.

Due to the potential nature of the equipment and/or materials used, the incumbent must be attentive and responsive to potential safety hazards and take appropriate precautionary measures as required. WHMIS and Emergency First Aid training are assets and the successful candidate will have to complete this training within a very short time of commencing work.

This is a Young Canada Works (YCW) funded position. You may be eligible for an internship if you:
• are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible);
• are legally entitled to work in Canada;
• are between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
• are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment;
• will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) while employed with the program;
• are unemployed or underemployed;
• are a college or university graduate;
• are not receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits while employed with the program.
