Terms: Term position starting the week of July 6th, 2021 - until August 28th, 2021 (for a total of 273 hours, 34
hours/week @$20/hr) located in Kjipuktuk/Halifax, NS.
Wonder’neath is seeking a full-time Summer Programming Intern during a time of exciting transition!
Wonder'neath Art Society is a studio based visual arts organization with a range of community programming and
partnerships. We are celebrating a new facility, and are adapting programming to meet current health and safety
guidelines. The programming intern will support the management and delivery of arts programming to engage a
variety of participants from neighbouring community members to members of the professional arts community in
Wonder’neath’s studio facility. The Summer Programming Intern should have leadership experience, art making
and facilitation skills, and an interest in the role of community art engagement.
Wonder’neath Art Society, is a charitable artist-run organization that encourages and promotes art as a tool for
expression, connection and social transformation by bringing professional artists and local residents together in
dynamic, creative explorations.

In collaboration with Co-Artistic and Executive Directors, the Intern will:
? Develop a plan for summer initiatives
? Research and develop project ideas for Wonder’neath programming, including creating samples and
? Design collaborative art projects that encourage creativity and self-expression.
? Liaising with community members and community organizations when required
? Document events/projects/programs, collect feedback from participants
? Design posters and develop communication initiatives through a variety of methods including social
? Contribute to overall studio organization
Responsibilities include:
? Becoming familiar with the Wonder’neath community and ongoing Wonder’neath programming
? Learning and implementing safe studio practices
? Working to agreed upon quality standards
? Monitoring the success of each projects and identifying possible improvements
? Fostering opportunities for sharing, exchange of ideas/resources and expertise within our studio setting
? Working as part of a team to create an environment that is welcoming to a broad range of participants
? This position will include managing some staff and volunteers

This position is supported through Canada Summer jobs. An individual may be eligible for the position if they:
? are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding
temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible);
? are legally entitled to work in Canada;
? are between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
Summer Programming Intern Qualifications:
? Highly creative and innovative
? Reliable, flexible, adaptable and patient
? Strong organizational skills
? Dynamic visual art/craft skills
? Social media and communication skills
? Art facilitation experience (comfortable engaging a broad range of people)
? Able to work both collaboratively and independently
