Are you an experienced bookkeeping professional looking for a reliable, flexible, and rewarding part-time work opportunity?
SAM is a not-for-profit arts management service organization offering mentorship, management, administration, and other resources to artists and arts organizations in Nova Scotia at affordable, subsidized rates. We are seeking someone to join our team of dedicated part-time administrators in the role of Bookkeeper.

This role is responsible for bookkeeping tasks for several performing arts company clients. This includes but is not limited to: liaising with clients to develop reliable and mutually convenient methods of financial data exchange, general ledger entries, payroll, routine reporting, cheque preparation, and year-end reports.
The Bookkeeper also prepares a small activity summary as part of the staff report for the bi-monthly SAM Board of Directors meetings.

The ideal person for this job will be: flexible, a strong independent worker, able to manage multiple priorities, have good communication and relation-building skills, be detail oriented, computer literate, and have an understanding of bookkeeping and accounting terms and of activities in the performing arts. The candidate should also be familiar with accounting software such as QuickBooks and Sage 50 (Simply Accounting), particularly the online versions. We are prepared to do some training for this position.
