Web Archives Student Library Assistant – Part-time student opportunity

The NSCAD Library seeks a part-time student assistant to work through the remainder of the summer and early fall on a web archiving project focused on archiving the NSCAD experience during the COVID-19 pandemic. The student assistant will work with the Collections and Systems Librarian to employ web capture tools to gather and build a web-archival collection consisting of online student exhibitions, university communications and updates, and selected social media posts and news reports.

The student assistant will be provided training in web capture tools such as the Rhizome webrecorder software and Conifer platform, and the Internet Archive Wayback Machine. The student will build skills and understanding in the Web Archiving Lifecycle Model, the WARC file format, web archiving tools for capturing digital art and dynamic content, and web archiving frameworks applied in academic and arts organizations.

Interested applicants should have experience working in Microsoft excel, and experience or a strong interest in digital art, archives, and/or digital curation.

This position is a part-time student position, seven hours a week over 10 weeks.
