Alderney Landing Facility Is a non-profit centre that holds Community and Cultural Events annually. Through our Art Gallery, Theatre, Farmers Market and Signature Events we give our community a place to express their creative talents and grow their businesses.

The Craig Gallery holds approximately 12 exhibits a year to promote our local established and emerging artists. Our mission is to bring awareness to and support the local talent we hold in our community.

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

Gallery Assistant (50%)
• Assist in set-up and tear down of all shows;
• Maintain direct contact with, and work with artists and ensure their needs are met;
• Assist the Gallery Curator in sponsorship duties;
• Organization and preparation of materials before shows, after shows are finished and throughout shows as needed;
• Gallery maintenance between shows (i.e., painting, gathering of supplies, etc.); and,
• Assist Gallery Curator in the promotion of current and up-coming shows.

Gallery Attendant (25%):
• Provide information about the current show;
• Maintain a calm and quiet gallery environment for everyone to enjoy;
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of the Craig Gallery; and,
• Maintain visitor documentation.

Other Summer Staff duties (25%)
• Assisting in the organization of online children’s art camp,
• Place weekly orders for art camp supplies and other orders as required,
• Cover for children's summer camp counsellors as needed, and
• Set-up, tear down and work during other events throughout the summer (may be held evenings and weekends).

Who you are
Alderney Landing is currently seeking students currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution to fill the position of Gallery Assistant for the Craig Gallery. If you are someone who is creative and have a deep-rooted passion for fine arts, this may be the summer position for you! Were looking for individuals who are creative, organized, and passionate about fine art. In this position you will get the opportunity to be apart of making local artists dreams become a reality. We are looking for individuals who will be able to assist us in our mission of giving artists a space to display their incredible artwork. As the Gallery Assistant you will be responsible for assisting the Craig Gallery Coordinator in all gallery duties. The ideal candidate for this position will have knowledge of art history and a foundation knowledge of a wide range of various studio practices and media.

• Able to commit to regular hours Monday - Friday and some evenings and weekends,
• Exceptional customer service skills and must be client-focused,
• Must be passionate and knowledgeable of fine art,
• Possess a foundation knowledge of a wide range of various studio practices and media,
• Knowledge of art history,
• Demonstrate kindness and a friendly disposition,
• Able to adapt quickly and effectively manage time under pressure,
• Organized and motivated to complete tasks, and
• Take direction and able to accomplish a list of tasks independently and reliably.

• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program
• Previous art experience or enrollment in fine arts program considered an asset;
• Experience working in a gallery setting is considered an asset
• Ability to speak more than one language/ bilingual considered an asset

Position Type: Full-time/ seasonal
Hours: 35 per week or more as needed.
Position Start: ASAP
Reports to: Craig Gallery Coordinator
