Description
Eastern Front Theatre (EFT) is looking for an Archive Assistant to digitize and catalogue archival material from the company’s 27 year history, and then update that material on the company’s website. This is an 8 week, full-time (flexible) contract with Canada Summer Jobs.
The Archive Assistant will report to the General Manager.



Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:

Processing the collection, including physical arrangement (sorting, boxing, labeling)
Digitizing and cataloguing all materials in archive collection, including photos, programs, posters, etc.
Organizing data in a systematic and methodical manner
Building Past Production and Company History sections of the EFT website with approved content
Conduct research where necessary to corroborate information and fill in gaps- this could mean communicating with current and past staff and board members, and EFT founders

    Skills and Qualifications: Able to work independently and set own deadlines Effective interpersonal skills Excellent oral communication Excellent written communication Strong organizational skills Attention to detail Familiarity with digital skills including scanning, website development, and database experience. Knowledge of electronic records and data storage methods.
  1. Please note: This job requires many hours of repetitive tasks, some heavy lifting, working with dusty materials and mostly sitting with some standing. Some elements of this job can be done remotely, but the majority will need to happen at the EFT office in downtown Halifax This position is available as part of the 2020 Canada Summer Jobs program. To be eligible for the position, the candidate must: be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment is legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations


Other Information
Hours and Compensation: $14/hr, 35 hrs/wk for 8 weeks
