Description
The Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq (The CMM) is a Tribal Council representing eight Mi’kmaq communities of mainland Nova Scotia.
Our mission is to proactively promote and assist Mi’kmaq communities’ initiatives towards self-determination and enhancement of
community. The CMM is located in the Millbrook Mi’kmaw Community in Nova Scotia and has over 100 Employees. The CMM’s
Department of Community Services & Infrastructure is currently looking for an energetic, mature and independent candidate to fill the role
of Mi’kmawey Green Communities (MGC) Program Manager.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Associate Executive Director (AED), The CMM’s MGC Program Manager will run the day-to-day operations of MGCP
Projects according to strict funding deadlines and within budget. The CMM MGC Program Manager will plan, execute, and finalize projects
including acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver
projects according to the annual work plan as set out under the Contribution Agreement. The CMM MGC Program Manager will also
define the project objectives and oversee quality control throughout projects’ life cycle. S/he will prepare and recommend project budgets
to the AED. S/he will also plan and maintain systems and procedures for operating efficiency and supervise and manage CMM MGC
Program Team.


Responsibilities
- The successful leadership and management of MGCP Solid Waste Management (SWM) Projects according to the strategic
direction recommended the AED and ratified by The CMM Board of Directors.
- The overall management, administration and operations of CMM MGC Program. This includes determining staffing requirements
and making recommendations to the AED.
- Develop job descriptions, job postings and participate in the hiring process and training of new team members.
- Supervise, direct, and report on MGC team members according to the CMM policy and procedures.
- Set employee goals and objectives; and, delegate work duties to staff through the creation of work plans in accordance with
project funding agreements and requests from the MGC Advisory Committee, CMM Member Communities and CMM Board of
Directors.
- Monitor and assist staff with work progress which includes performance reviews.
- Recommend department/unit policies and practices to the AED.
- Facilitate the preparation and review of funding proposals and reports.
- Meet any/all MGC Projects’ objectives, goals and deliverables as outlined in funding agreements and as directed by the AED.
- Writing reports and preparing PowerPoint Presentations for Management.
- Attending periodic meetings that may be required and/or requested by the AED.
- Other duties may be required and/or requested by the AED.

Skills
- University degree in Science, or Environmental Management OR an equivalent combination of education and experience in both
areas of study.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in a managerial position.
- Demonstrated leadership and management abilities.
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask, prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to Solid Waste Management.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally both internally and with external organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Knowledge of Human Resources management, financial management, and project management.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in the use of Microsoft word, Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word perfect, Adobe Acrobat, E-Mail,
Internet and Social Media software.
- Superior communication skills, written and oral.
- Desirable personal characteristics include: Adaptability; Ethical; Behavior; Creative; Leadership; Team Building; Strategic Thinking
- Must have reliable transportation, drivers’ license and the ability to travel.

Salary/Employment Term:
Salary Range: $47,500 to $55,000 per year. This is a one-year contract position with the opportunity of renewal and subject to the policies
and practice of The CMM. The CMM offers a substantial benefits package to all employees.
