Description
Department: Marketing & Sales Supervisor: Director, Marketing & Sales Position Category: Full Time Working Hours: 35 hours per week Position Summary: The Graphic Designer at the Discovery Centre is responsible for leading the creative design and production process in the creation of promotional materials to support marketing campaigns for exhibits, events, educational programs, retail and fundraising initiatives. Following existing branding guidelines, the Graphic Designer conceptualizes and implements design solutions that align with marketing and sales strategies from concept to completion. The Graphic Designer will lead sourcing of promotional products, printing, signage and image collection through original or stock photography and videography. The ideal candidate is technically inclined and has specialized knowledge of systems and programs required for graphic design, photography, and video creation for both static and digital mediums.


Responsibilities
• Creative Development – conceptualize creative design solutions across multiple channels to promote Discovery Centre exhibits, events, educational programs, retail and fundraising initiatives. • Design & Production– Execute design concepts for program branding, promotional material, print and signage, as well as digital, video and motion graphics. • Photography & Videography – Using supplied equipment, procure original or sourced photography and video assets, as well as manage an archive of images. • Production Planning – Organize and prioritize design work to meet production schedule deadlines. Source estimates and fabrication from external suppliers such as printers, sign manufacturers and promotional products suppliers.

Skills
Qualifications: • Post-secondary education in graphic design or equivalent • Minimum three years’ experience in graphic design, photography, video production, and printing & signage production processes • Working knowledge in Mac OS
• Knowledge in applicable graphic design tools and software i.e. Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Lightroom • Knowledge in applicable video production tools and software i.e. Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro • Knowledge in HTML, CSS and CMS such as WordPress and Mailchimp an asset. • Strong communication and presentation skills • Strong project management, organizational, and multitasking skills • Strong attention to detail • Good teamwork and collaboration skills
