Communications Coordinator
Location: Lunenburg, NS and area
Start Date: June 30, 2019
Duration of Contract: 31 wks
Rate of pay: $16.25/hr (35 hrs/week)

Reports to: Executive Director, Board of Directors
Key Relationships: Executive Director, festival staff, marketing committee, community
groups, sponsors, media contacts, and volunteers
Lunenburg Doc Fest showcases documentary films that entertain, educate and inspire,
creating a cultural experience and place of connection between filmmakers and film
enthusiasts in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.
The Communications Coordinator will train and work with the Executive Director and key festival
personnel to develop, implement and coordinate marketing projects and initiatives. The position
requires the Coordinator to work in LDF’s office in Lunenburg and will include some evening and
weekend work as determined by scheduled events. The ideal candidate thinks creatively and

• Manage LDF’s website and social media accounts
• Contribute to the digital development of Lunenburg Doc Fest
• Cultivate working relationships with media outlets and contacts
• Contribute to LDF Marketing Plan and 3 Year Strategy Plan
• Promote individual screenings, community events
• Assist with the creation and delivery of a new LDF podcast
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
• Ensure clear communication of Lunenburg Doc Fest’s mission and the value of our programs
by drafting, copy editing and sending, website language and printed materials.
• Supports all publicity tasks
• Create print marketing materials promoting programming for the Box Office displays

Social Media Coordination
• Manage LDF’s social media platforms
• Contribute copy and complete website updates
• Creation of select graphics and digital assets
• Document digital marketing plans to prepare for final reporting
Media Coordination
• Cultivate partnerships with media/press stakeholders
• Maintain digital, media and press calendars, deadlines and tasks
• Write and disseminate press releases and festival e-newsletters
• Analyze the impacts of promotional campaigns for future knowledge
• Create a Communications Coordinator operations manual
Programming Promotion and Outreach
• Lead outreach to specialty interest groups to explore partnerships and cross-promotion
• Support media team with details upon request and assist in gathering guest information
including photos/bios/videos and any other information required for press
• Participate in community/industry events as required
Sponsor Recognition
• Update and monitor sponsor recognition on various social media platforms
• Contribute to Program Guide copy and design
• Contribute copy to pre-screening sponsor loop
Podcast Production
• Research possible subjects
• Schedule guests and facilities as needed
• Work with Executive Director and Marketing Committee to develop segments and topics, and
prepare research materials for the producers &/or host(s)
• Work on various aspects of podcast production as training and ability allow

• Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to craft short-form copy using proper
grammar and brand-appropriate tone
• Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, Microsoft Office, Wordpress, and
Apple software is an asset
• Ability to serve as a passionate ambassador for the organization
• Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to balance and prioritize competing demands
and deadlines
• Knowledge of non-fiction storytelling, documentary film, other media arts fields, and/or the
nonprofit sector is highly beneficial

This job is funded through the Job Creation Partnership Program (JCP) of Employment
