Description
Are you an energetic and enthusiastic university or college student that loves to help others? We are currently
hiring temporary staff to welcome new international students at Halifax Stanfield International Airport in the
back-to-school season from August 23 rd - 31 st , 2019 inclusive. This is the perfect role for someone interested in
education, travel, customer service, brand management and marketing.


Responsibilities
• Greet new international students and welcome them to Nova Scotia. Answer questions they may have about
getting to campus, orientation week, and general information about Halifax and Nova Scotia.
• Engage in conversation with alumni and the public who approach you and ask questions about
universities, colleges, programs etc.
• Provide helpful and courteous service at all times.
• Keep records of students who you engage with: where they have come from, what they are studying and what
types of questions they had.
• Keep the Study Nova Scotia branded booth in the arrivals hall, clean and ensure marketing materials are stocked
at all times.

Skills
• You must be outgoing and professional.
• You must be a current student or recent graduate of a university or college in the province of Nova Scotia.
• Experience working as an orientation leader or a volunteer on campus will be considered an asset.
• Fluency in a second language will be considered an asset.
• You should have a broad understanding of your own university/college; its residences, extracurriculars and
programs.
• You should have a solid understanding of how to use the public transportation system, how to get around
Halifax and offer students advice including where to find shops, restaurants, and hotels.
• You must have a smartphone (iPhone, Android or Blackberry).
• You must have reliable transportation to and from the Airport between August 23 rd - 31 st .
• You should be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• You should be level headed and solve problems on your own as they arise.

Other Information
• This role will pay $12/hour.
• All applicants must be available for a telephone interview the week of July 15 th .
• Individuals selected must be available for training August 13 th & 14 th for approximately five hours each day.
• Individuals must be available to work various shifts for this position: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and
from 6:00 pm to 3:00 am.
• Your role may involve participation in media publications including radio, TV and social media.
