$13.00/Hour for 35 hours per week (approximately June 17 to August 23, 2019)

MSVU Art Gallery is seeking an organized, analytical, and systems-minded doer to help coordinate learning opportunities between
the Gallery and the collections management community in Nova Scotia.
In 2020 the Gallery will begin a series of exhibitions and programs that celebrate the Mount Saint Vincent University art collection. In anticipation we plan to upgrade our own collections management system.
We are looking for someone to help connect
us with the expertise in collections care and
management that will ultimately enable community access to the collection.
Working with the team at the Gallery and with
advice from experts in the region, this
Community Liaison will be responsible for
researching, developing, and executing new approaches to the documentation of
our art collection. Thisposition promotes access
to our collection of artworks for a variety of
stakeholders: community members, museum experts and scholars alike.
Reporting to the Director and working
the Art Gallery Technician and Administrative Assistant, the Community Liaison –Collections will work on-site at the MSVU Art Gallery with the artwork collection and records, and out in the community with experts in the field.


Responsibilities
The Community Liaison will:
? Communicate ideas from other community contacts and correspond both in verbally and in
writing;
? Develop ideas for systems, projects, and strategies to translate into feasible contributions to the Gallery’s collections management plan;
? Collaborate with MSVU Art Gallery Staff on regular tasks related to the care and documentation of the permanent collection;
? Use Microsoft Office(Outlook, Word, Excel, Access) to manage time, tasks, and information

Skills
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
? Comfort networking and sharing information;
? Ability to track information and details in documents;
? Creativity in developing project plans;
? Independent working skills;
? Ability to manage their time efficiently;
? Sensitivity to the care of museum collections;
This position is well suited for Fine Arts, Art History, Museum Studies, or Cultural Studies students. No particular level of education preferred.
English language skills are required

Eligibility Criteria:
The Art Gallery Community Liaison position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs. As such, applicants must meet that program’s eligibility criteria. Applicants must be:
?Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
?A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (International students are not
eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
? Legally entitled to work according to Nova Scotia legislation and regulations.
