The Summer Design Intern will independently work on a brand new collection for
Sarawagi’s Spring 2020 rug collection. This includes conceptualising the collection,
creating and presenting look books and artwork, introducing new dyeing and
weaving techniques or reinventing existing techniques to create an authentic
product, and developing colorways.
During his/her time at Sarawagi, the production process of actual samples must
begin, by developing graphs, dyeing up yarn, and possibly commencing weaving.
All these processes will be carried out by Sarawagi’s studio, dye house, and
weaving factory, but the designer will be part of each process, providing their
valuable input while also learning from the experts.

The intern will have full support of the Sarawagi team as well as studio, but s/he will
also have complete freedom to explore the possibilities with this collection. S/he will
be free to visit the dye house, weaving factory and washing centre to learn the
process, experiment and explore the possibilities.
The collection, if successful, will be promoted, and will be featured on Sarawagi’s
website, catalogs and other communication mediums. The designer’s name will be
attached to their individual collection, and full credit will be given to them.

Other Information
Remuneration: This is an unpaid internship. Sarawagi will provide the intern
comfortable western-style accommodation at a location close to the office. The
intern will also receive a monthly food allowance of $100 which is sufficient to cover
food costs in Nepal. The intern will be responsible for paying for their travel to
Nepal, visas, insurance and miscellaneous expenses.
